May 22nd has been declared the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) to increase awareness and appreciation of Biodiversity. Simply put, biodiversity is life on earth: plants, animals and humans. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Saint Lucia’s signing onto the Convention on Biological Diversity and so will be observed under the theme: “Celebrating 25 years of Action for Biodiversity”.
In observance of IDB 2018, the Department of Sustainable Development is hosting a series of activities including beach clean ups, a photo competition, movie day and school visits.
We invite you to take part in this celebration of life and check out the calendar of events for more information.
